AESC's Tennessee gigafactory in Smyrna, which has been operational since 2012, produces batteries for Nissan. The Kentucky gigafactory in Bowling Green will supply Mercedes-Benz with high-performance battery cell modules. The South Carolina gigafactory in Florence will supply technology-leading battery cells for new electric models produced in BMW Group's Spartanburg plant. About the Role
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing the Human Resources operations at the plant level. This includes workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, compliance, training, and fostering a positive work environment. The role serves as a strategic partner to plant leadership, ensuring HR practices align with business goals while maintaining a culture of employee engagement and satisfaction.
What You Will Do
- Develops and administers various human resources plans and procedures for Florence, South Carolina employees.
- Collaborate with plant leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that support operational goals.
- Manage onboarding programs to ensure new hires are effectively integrated into the organization.
- Address employee questions regarding pay, benefits, and policies.
- Analyze workforce metrics to forecast staffing needs and address skill gaps.
- Works with the management team on various employee relations issues, including performance management, compliance investigations and corrective action. Conducts investigations as necessary and takes appropriate action(s) based on company policy/practice. Consults with Legal to ensure compliance.
- Manages the recruiting, interviewing, selection, and hiring process to fill vacant positions
- Working with ReadySC, builds and maintains a pipeline of qualified candidates
- Identifies talent needs and development gap and provides training/development programs for Florence site employees. Implements various facets of the company’s talent management lifecycle, including performance management, succession planning and employee engagement.
- Conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career-path program and employee relations counseling; conducts exit interviews.
- Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars. Maintains organizational charts and employee directory.
- Evaluates reports, decisions and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the organization.
- Serves as an advocate to develop the AESC corporate culture, ensuring an environment of positive employee relations while helping to build a positive employer brand.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws. May perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment
The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic. The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees, management, customers and suppliers.

What You Need
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience, including at least two years of working in a plant environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field is required.
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations governing HR practices.
- Comprehensive understanding of diverse Human Resources management and administrative functions.
- Proven experience supporting operations at various organizational levels and across multiple functions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, with expertise in HRIS and HCM systems and other relevant software applications.
- Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
- Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
What is “Nice to Have”?
- Master’s degree preferred
- Supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Professional certification (PHR, SPHR, CCP, etc.) is highly desired.
- Background in a highly technical, automotive-related manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
