About the Role

The Technical Project Engineer is responsible for managing the efficient design and development of AESC battery plant production facilities, with a focus on maintaining effective communication between AESC team members and contractors to complete design tasks on schedule. This role emphasizes project management over deep technical controls expertise, as the Project Engineer will coordinate with Controls Engineers and other technical experts to ensure project milestones are achieved efficiently, safely, and on time. Working across the organization to foster continuous improvement, this position offers an excellent opportunity to learn and contribute within a skilled and collaborative team environment.

What You Will Do 

  • Project Management: Lead the planning, execution, and oversight of controls-related projects for facilities and manufacturing equipment from design to commissioning.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, including Controls Engineers, MEP Engineers, and Facilities Management, as well as external contractors, to meet project requirements and timelines.
  • Design Coordination: Facilitate design stages by liaising with technical experts to ensure project requirements align with industry standards and AESC objectives.
  • Resource Coordination: Coordinate project resources, including scheduling and budget management, ensuring efficient use of internal and external expertise.
  • Scheduling & Milestone Tracking: Develop and monitor project schedules, setting milestones and ensuring that timelines are met through all phases, from design review to equipment commissioning.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Oversee project documentation, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and internal quality and safety requirements.
  • Issue Resolution & Reporting: Identify and resolve project-related issues and bottlenecks, providing regular updates to management and stakeholders on project progress and challenges.
  • Vendor & Contractor Management: Manage relationships with contractors and vendors, ensuring they meet project specifications and quality standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to post-project reviews and implement lessons learned for process and efficiency improvements in future projects.

Occasional domestic and international travel required.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic. The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees, management, customers and suppliers.

Qualifications

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering etc.).
  • 5+ years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing facility.
  • Basic understanding of controls systems; ability to work effectively with Controls Engineers and technical experts.
  • Be self-motivated individual with good written and verbal communication skills and Data Driven Decision-Making skills.
  • Have a good understanding of root cause analysis (RCA), problem solving techniques.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, OneNote, SharePoint).
  • Strong time management skills, and the ability to manage simultaneous and often changing priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to work with and lead contractors through the process of RFP to commissioning of equipment.
  • Experience in information gathering, tracking, and consolidation and with contributing to the creation of reports, dashboards, and presentations.
  • Effectively coordinates schedules and meetings using tools such as Outlook, Google Calendar, Office 365, Primavera P6, etc.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills and ability to articulate complex information in a simple way.

What Is Nice to Have

  • Automotive OEM or Tier 1 Supplier experience
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
  • Proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6 and Bluebeam
  • New plant design, build, and commissioning a plus.
  • High level of applicable technical skills with AutoCAD, Inventor, Statistics, Basic Engineering Principles and reporting of Technical Automotive OEM or Tier 1 Supplier experience
  • Working knowledge of project management related to the introduction of products to market.
  • Understands standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards 
  • Understands standards of ISO14001 environmental standards
