Job Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) for AESC is accountable for leading and managing suppliers through advanced quality planning and process development to ensure high operational efficiency, robust industrialization, and capable manufacturing processes that meet AESC quality and capacity requirements.
This role requires close collaboration with internal and external Engineering, Manufacturing, and Purchasing teams to ensure appropriate designs, suppliers, and manufacturing processes are selected, validated, and refined from early development through launch and into production.
As a key driver of supplier performance, the SQE leads root cause analysis and structured problem-solving efforts, drives process improvements, and ensures deployment of best practices and lessons learned across programs. The SQE serves as the technical expert for the manufacturing processes and technologies associated with battery system components.
Job Functions

- Lead and contribute to Cross Functional Audit, Risk Assessment, considering customer-specific requirements, including warranty terms and consequences, and project requirements.
- Leads Process/Product/QMS audits, capacity analysis, and capability assessments on suppliers.
- Lead and review APQP and PPAPs from suppliers in conjunction with a cross-functional, inter-departmental team
- Prepares and submits supplier scorecards while coordinating thorough action plans for poor performers
- Provides corrective actions (CA) as it relates to supplier 8Ds and Parts Inspection Requests (PIRs)
- Identifies and leads potential improvements to department processes, systems, and tracking processes to achieve departmental KPIs
- Works with suppliers to continuously improve performance, controls, and compliance as it relates to IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3. Recommends technical advice and guidance to suppliers to improve supplier quality
- Aids in the development and standardization of a global Supplier Quality Manual
- Provides valuable insight to the Quality Assurance department and the company as a whole
- Addresses supplier quality concerns and ensures countermeasures are made in a timely manner
- Cooperates with operations departments regarding investigations and resolutions of chronic or severe supplier quality problems and implements actions to eliminate further occurrences.
- Lead continuous efforts to reduce the occurrence of the top warranty field issues
- Contributor to building brand value and achieving enduring profitable growth
- Conducts job functions with minimal guidance and follow-up
Minimum Qualifications
Job Knowledge and Skill: In-depth quality management systems, product knowledge, Understanding of lithium battery technology, battery manufacturing processes and equipment, and related information systems. Basic understanding of design, development, production, and processes. Certification and experience auditing to ISO 9001 or IATF 16949, or VDA 6.3, 19.1, 19.2, and 6.7 standards are a plus.
Experience: Three or more years of directly related professional-level engineering experience. Lithium-ion battery manufacturing experience is a plus. Experience in automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier roles is a plus. Must be a self-motivated individual with good written and verbal communication skills.
Supervisory Experience: Two or more years of supervisor role is a plus
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering discipline from an accredited institution
Computer Skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and CAD
