Our Blythewood, South Carolina facility supports a BMW EV battery repack operation and is part of AESC's growing North American manufacturing footprint. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Quality Control Technician supports the inspection and disposition of EV battery cells within AESC's Blythewood repack operation. This role is responsible for conducting in-process quality checks, identifying non-conforming product, documenting quality data, and supporting corrective action activities. The Quality Control Technician works closely with production, engineering, and laboratory teams to ensure that all product released from the facility meets AESC and customer specifications.

 

SHIFT AVAILABILITY

We are hiring for both 1st Shift and 2nd Shift. Shift assignment will be discussed during the interview process. Candidates must be available for their assigned shift and willing to support cross-shift coverage as operational needs require.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform in-process and final inspection of battery cells using visual and dimensional inspection methods.
  • Identify, tag, and segregate non-conforming product and initiate the non-conformance documentation process.
  • Record inspection results in the quality management system with accuracy and completeness.
  • Review and verify that production documentation, traveler packages, and data records are complete and accurate.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) investigations.
  • Perform first article inspections and process audits as assigned.
  • Communicate quality holds, escapes, and rejections to production leadership and quality engineering in a timely manner.
  • Maintain calibration logs and assist with management of inspection equipment and gauges.
  • Support customer audit preparation and participate in internal quality audits.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols including high-voltage battery handling and PPE requirements.
Cualificaciones

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED; Associate's degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of quality inspection or quality control experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality specifications.
  • Experience using measurement tools and inspection equipment.
  • Proficiency with data entry and basic computer applications (Microsoft Office or equivalent).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to make sound disposition decisions under time pressure.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in automotive, battery, electronics, or EV manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, or similar quality management system standards.
  • Experience with non-conformance and CAPA documentation systems.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and statistical process control (SPC) fundamentals.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic. The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees, management, customers and suppliers.
