AESC's Tennessee gigafactory in Smyrna, which has been operational and supplying electric vehicle batteries for the Nissan LEAF since 2012, was retooled in 2025 and now produces batteries for Energy Storage Systems. The South Carolina gigafactory in Florence will supply next generation cells for BMW starting in 2026. About the Role
As a Sr. Field Electric Engineer within the Global Industrial Development (GID) team, you will play a key role in designing and optimizing electrical systems for our world-class battery manufacturing facilities. You will be responsible for delivering innovative, efficient, and sustainable electrical designs while ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards. Your technical expertise and leadership will drive the success of complex, high-performance projects, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality design and seamless execution. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems in manufacturing environments and a commitment to advancing energy sustainability.
What You Will Do
Design Innovation:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and develop innovative electrical systems for battery manufacturing facilities.
Use creativity and problem-solving skills to optimizesystem performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
Technical Expertise:
- Lead the development of detailed and accurate electrical system designs, ensuring they meet project requirements and technical standards.
- Perform QA/QC reviews of project deliverables at various stages (30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC) to ensure compliance with design standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Code Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to relevantelectrical codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and others, to guaranteesafety and reliability across facilities.
- Apply your knowledge of electrical regulations to ensure designs are fully compliant and meet all industry and safety requirements.
- Sustainability Integration:
- Integrate energy-efficient practices and sustainable design principles intelectrical systems to reduce the environmental impact of our facilities.
- Champion sustainability initiatives and contribute to the advancement of energy-efficient manufacturing solutions.
Teamwork & Communication:
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including process engineers, controls engineers, and other stakeholders, into deliver fully integrated and optimized electrical systems.
- Participate in project meetings, provide regular progress reports, and effectively communicate design solutions, issues, and recommendations to cross-functional teams.
- Foster strong relationships with project teams and ensure alignment with project goals and customer requirements.

What You Need
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience in electrical design for buildings or industrial projects.
- Experience with battery manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, or petrochemical plant design is a plus.
- Skills & Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of electrical codes and standards such as NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and others.
- Proficiency in electrical design software including Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, and EasyPower.
- Strong project management and prioritization skills, with the ability to balance workload and manage multiple projects effectively.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively deliver findings and recommendations to cross-functional teams.
- Regulatory Knowledge:
- Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards (training and awareness will be provided).
- Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards (training and awareness will be provided).
Travel:
- This role requires up to 25% domestic and international travel to support project execution and collaboration with global teams.
- Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
- Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
What is “Nice to Have”?
- Experience in the battery manufacturing, semiconductor, or petrochemical industries.
- Familiarity with energy-efficient practices in industrial electrical system design.
- Certifications in energy management or electrical engineering specialties related to manufacturing.
